Avoiding the burning trees

As I’m showered by the ash of the leaves
I hear a distant squawking

It was only yesterday
I thought it was just us

I’d marveled at the prospect

They’ve been controlling all of us
Like putty in their hands
We've assembled here, this army
As Humanity's last stand
They could have been your father
Your mother, your best friend
You'll never know who to trust
Ever again
You may as well put your faith
In what we are doing here
We're the ones who'll keep you safe
You've nothing more to fear
