Smoke
03:43
|
|||
I wish that I could take away
Those worries on your mind
And maybe restore that old confidence
You used to wear with pride
But I guess they really got to you
With all their sickening lies,
When the smoke screen fizzled out
And you could see through their disguise
All your dreams have lost their meaning
And you question should you trash them and move on
And you look to me for answers
And I try my best to find them
But as soon as I get a glimpse of hope they’re gone
The smoke was lifted long ago for me
And I’ve been trying to justify it all for years
Through these gritted teeth and tears
And for so long I was confused,
I’d hide away in drug infused illusions
Which to me, became reality
My dreams they had a meaning
But I didn’t have the focus to see them through
But it’s hard to keep your mind clear
When a clear mind sees everything they do

They Can
04:32
|
|||
They can twist and manipulate
They can turn our love to hate
And they can make us think the demons
Should be trusted with our fate
They can shut our open eyes
They can blind us from all sides
They tell us things they think we want to hear
Even though it’s all just lies
And they decide who we’re allowed to be
That was never up to you or me
They force their plans upon us
And make us suffer if we disagree
And they coax us into war
They’re corrupted to the core
But they’ll convince us that it all makes sense
If at first we’re not so sure
They can monitor our soul
They got us all on remote control
And they can make us need those latest gadgets
That keep us in our homes
And they can mould our personal taste
They can shove it in our face
And they can make us feel like losers
If we don’t keep up with the pace
They decide where we’re allowed to be
They can keep us all off the streets
You’re just a couple of clicks away
If there’s someone you need to meet
And they make us want to hide
They tell us all it isn’t safe outside
Strap yourself up in the car seat kids
Don’t interrupt us while we drive

The Game
03:48
|
|||
They can’t even tell what’s right from wrong
They don’t even know whose side they’re on
We can’t trust a single word they say
They’ll tell us something different the next day
We can’t even begin to understand
We’re just left here, holding our heads in our hands
Wondering what the fuck they’re gonna do next
But I guess it suits them that we’re all perplexed
Ain’t it funny how they head out into the street,
Shaking hands with all the numbers they meet?
But when they get their arse in that seat
We only ever see them on TV
They play us like we’re pawns in a game
Manipulate us into ticking their name
They go back on every single promise they made
And rub their hands together at another game well played
You see, the problem is they’ll never change
Forever motivated by personal gain
They’ll syphon the planet right down to the core
For as long as it feeds them more and more
They show no interest in our future race
They’re more concerned with being first in space
They just can’t wait to get their foot out that door
Stomp it down on another planet and fuck it up

Somewhere Deep Inside
05:02
|
|||
Where’s that magic something?
Where’s that little spark?
That island in the ocean?
That twinkle in the dark?
Maybe I’ll look left
Maybe I’ll look right
Maybe it’s just hiding
Somewhere deep inside
Where’s that little joker
Who charmed her with his smile?
Where’s that man who showed her
He was worthy of her pride?
Did he become a stranger?
When did he become uptight?
Did he go into hiding
Somewhere deep inside?
Where’s that freedom fighter?
That rebel with a cause?
Where that man who didn’t
Give a stuff for all your laws?
Did he just lose his patience?
One too many times denied?
Is he now left fighting
Somewhere deep inside?
That’s where you’ll find me
Bound up and gagged
By the hands of society
Could someone please remind me
Of who I really am
Before I’m too far gone
Somewhere deep inside?
Where’s that little thinker
Who gazed out past the skies?
Where’s the one you turned to
With your what’s and your why’s?
Has he become the clueless?
When did he become unwise?
Is He the one that lead me
Somewhere deep inside?
That’s where you’ll find me
Bound up and gagged
By the hands of society
Could someone please remind me
Of who I really am
Before I’m too far gone
Somewhere deep inside?

Point Of View
04:03
|
|||
You can teach your dogs to bite
You can train the boys to fight
You can dig your holes and hide
Until it’s safe again to step outside
But you can keep that sponge away from my brain
Try as you might
My point of view won’t change
You can flash your images on my screen
You can decide the headlines I’m allowed to read
You can push whatever content into my feed
Dress them all in pretty bold colours make sure I see
But you can keep that sponge away from my brain
Try as you might
My point of view won’t change
And you can go on thinking you’re right
Take refuge in plain sight
And you could wipe away my smile
But you’ll never lay a finger on what I hold inside
So you can save your breath, don’t speak my name
I have no interest in being part of your game
I reside myself to spend my days in this cage
And you can sit up on your cloud but inside we’re all the same
So you can keep that sponge away from my brain
Try as you might
My point of view won’t change

Spark
02:33
|
|||
We could never hope to have these worries lightened
If we never learn to free our hearts
We’ll never be anything but frightened
If we never learn to bite the shark
We’ll never grow to be enlightened
While the truth is hiding in the dark
We’ll never see our future brighten
If we never learn to strike the spark
